Then treat your ears to a performance of mariachi, a style of musical performance that originated right here in the state of Jalisco. There is absolutely no way you can return home after a memorable stay in a villa rental Puerto Vallarta without a souvenir of some sort. You’re going to want something to help bring you back, at least in your mind, to the warm, romantic evenings, the pleasant days in the sun and the sound of Banderas Bay washing up against the shore.

It doesn’t make sense to spend a fortune on a fine woven piece crafted by a local artisan if you’re just going to put it in the attic when you get home. You might be better served by something small and wearable, perhaps some beautiful silver earrings or a belt buckle. One of the dangers with those vacation rentals in Puerto Vallarta is the chef – that’s right – the chef spends every day of your stay just thinking of tempting recipes that will expand your girth. On the other hand, one of the advantages to vacationing in this particular setting is the opportunity you have every day of your stay to get outside and do something active to stay fit. Two options that will make you breathe hard both because of the exercise and the beautiful scenery: bike tours and hiking trips.

Hiking is a natural for those whose knees and ankles don’t cry out with each step. You don’t need special equipment, just good hiking shoes.
